FORMER GUILDERLAND COMPTROLLER SUES OVER DEMOTION.(CAPITAL REGION)

A former comptroller for the town of Guilderland has filed a $1 million lawsuit stating she was fired from that post for political reasons and demoted to a clerical position by Supervisor Jerry Yerbury.

In legal papers, Jean M. Sterling also names the Guilderland Republican Committee as a defendant, alleging its members, Yerbury and two other Republicans who took office in January -- Town Board members Lauren Ayers and Edward Downey -- are responsible for inflicting emotional distress and humiliation at work in the aftermath of her demotion and a $10,000 pay cut.
